The J. Pingenot Institute for the Stress-Testing of Boxen was unofficially opened in 2011 with the arrival of a 48-core monster AMD server, known as “barrel.” The opening ceremony was unsurprisingly poorly-attended, perhaps owing to the fact that it did not occurr.

We specialize in creating fast programs in C and C++ that solve big physics problems. These programs push the limits of existing single- and multi-core as well as single-node and clustered computing power. They also make a satisfying loud WHIRR sound as they run.
